Weather Conditions

As you are no doubt aware, due to the adverse weather conditions stock of salt/grit has been severely depleted.  Local Authorities have precedence in obtaining supplies and are prioritising their operations to ensure that main routes are being treated, some of which require several treatments each day.  We understand that Local Authorities are also endeavouring to ensure that grit bins are being replenished and a number of Local Authority depots are providing salt/grit for private use, details of this service can be obtained by contacting your Local Authority by telephone or by visiting their website.

As we are sure you will appreciate, despite their best endeavours, our contractors are experiencing great difficulties in obtaining salt/grit therefore treatments to private roads and footpaths in estates is very restricted.  We are investigating alternatives to applying salt/grit which includes the application of red blaze/black ash, which, although will not contain salt to melt ice/snow, it should ease the conditions currently affecting some developments.

We are continuing to attempt to source supplies in order to provide treatments where required and would request that you advise us of any areas of concern within your development.  We would also urge clients to be very careful/cautious when using footpaths and roads until the extreme weather conditions improve.
